Prime Minister Gaston Browne has seen the new Royalton Chic‘s luxury and beauty firsthand, calling it “extremely gorgeous.”

On Thursday, Browne toured the former Rex Halcyon, which has undergone an incredible transformation and is now described as one of the most exquisite properties you’ll ever see.

“This transformation is the most impressive, and the properties are extremely gorgeous with several amenities that you will find in any five or six-star hotel globally,”, he said

According to Browne, the property, which will be officially opened soon, signifies the government’s aim to transform the country’s tourism product

“It is now one of the finest properties within the Caribbean and beyond, and this signifies the transformation of our product… And this is signifying the transformation of our product and the diversification of tourism product as we seek to position the Antigua and Barbuda tourism product at the high end of the spectrum,” he said

Browne who is also the finance minister, expressed his enthusiasm that the new hotel will significantly increase the country’s revenue.

He said it is expected to yield greater profits, resulting in an increase in government taxes that can be used to fund various public services.

Additionally, the staff members are expected to receive better wages and benefits compared to other properties in the region.

The Prime Minister expressed his excitement about the overall transformation of the country’s tourism industry into a high-end luxury product and congratulated the Royalton executives for their vision and hard work in making this project a reality.

He believes this new hotel will be one of the best tourism properties in the Caribbean and is confident it will provide great value for money.

The construction work on the new property is now complete, and it is all set to welcome its first guest on April 29th.

This luxurious property boasts seven top-class restaurants, five bars, coffee bars, four pools, swim-up suites, over-the-water bungalows, a spa, tennis courts, and a signature Diamond Club that offers butler services and other extravagances.

The property employs about 350 Antiguans, which is expected to increase to over 500 during the peak season.

The total expenditure on this project has been over USD$75M, and the investors have further plans for investments in the future.
