Delta Airlines Adds More Flights to Antigua

13 May 2024 - 13:10

Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry is poised for a significant boost in the upcoming winter season as Delta Airlines has announced additional air services to the country.

Tourism Minister Charles ‘Max’ Fernandez, has expressed his pleasure in seeing airlines like Delta increasing their services to the V.C. Bird International Airport, attributing it to the significant demand for Antigua and Barbuda in the US market.

This demand is a result of new accommodations and a robust marketing campaign by the tourism offices and stakeholders.

The CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA), Colin C. James, has also expressed his satisfaction with Delta’s new schedule.

Starting December 7, 2024, Delta Airlines will commence daily flights from Atlanta International Airport until January 7, 2025, following which it will return to its twice-weekly service on Tuesdays and Saturdays. And, starting January 11, 2025, Delta will introduce weekly service from John F. Kennedy International (JFK) in New York to V.C. Bird International.

James emphasized that the launch of the Delta service from the large JFK hub is a significant development for the destination.

The New York tri-state area remains the strongest catchment area within the US market, and with Delta operating from JFK, they are providing another airlift option for travellers from the tri-state area seeking to experience Antigua and Barbuda.

Delta’s expanded flight frequency, combined with increased flight service from other US carriers for the summer and winter months, will enhance accessibility to the destination from the United States.
