Game-Changing Community Road Program for Antigua

11 June 2024 - 03:05

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced a game-changing community road program for Antigua.

The Cabinet has approved several million for the Ministry of Works to purchase new equipment, including five concrete trucks, three rollers, graders, and a pug mill.

This means that within 90 days, the country will see a massive expansion in the construction of concrete roads at the community level.

“Through this programme, you will soon witness an expansion in the construction of roads at the community level across the country,” PM Browne revealed.

The best part is that these concrete roads are more durable than asphalt ones.

With the government’s own concrete batch plant, this innovative move promises significant improvement in the roads at the community level.

He said, “In the past, we have had to rely exclusively on the private sector to provide the equipment and in many cases the private sector may not have them available. We are now buying new equipment so that public works will have good capacity,”.
