Trion George, has been sentenced to four years and eight months imprisonment for robbing Ceco Pharmacy on January 5, 2023.
The sentence was handed down recently after George pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated robbery and larceny.
On the day of the incident, George entered Ceco Pharmacy and stole a money bag containing $80 in one-dollar coins, along with an additional $20 from the cash register.
As he attempted to flee, an on-duty security officer gave chase, pursuing George to the East Bus Station.
At the station, the situation escalated when George brandished a knife, threatening the security guard and demanding he empty his pockets.
Fearing for his safety, the guard threw down his wallet, which contained US$100 and EC$55.
Law enforcement later apprehended George, who was then taken into police custody.
In court, George faced charges of aggravated robbery, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years, and larceny, punishable by up to three years.
Justice Tunde Bakre, presiding over the case, sentenced George to just under 5 years, taking into account the time he had already spent on remand.
