POLICE ISSUE CAUTION & SAFETY TIPS AHEAD OF CARNIVAL HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Published
Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney

As residents and visitors look forward to celebrating during the extended holiday weekend of carnival, the Police Administration has taken several steps to ensure everyone’s safety.

This includes implementing a number of security measures, such as increased police patrols, random stop-and-search, and traffic checks across the island.

The main focus is to address the issue of illegal firearms and the use of weapons during the carnival celebrations.

Anyone found with blunt or sharp objects such as knives, machetes, scissors; pieces of iron, or wood without reason, will be arrested.

Residents can also look forward to additional security measures around designated parking lots to avoid break-ins into vehicles and thefts.

Vendors and bar owners are also asked to cooperate with authorities and desist from selling drinks in glass bottles or cans during the entire carnival season.

The police have also provided several useful safety tips to help keep everyone safe.
