CXC syllabuses suspended

Antigua and Barbuda has once again demonstrated its academic prowess in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations. The nation’s pass rate has surpassed the regional average.
According to Antigua’s CXC registrar Myrick Smith, the country’s performance has improved, however slight.
Smith stated, “The percentage pass this year 2024 overall is 74.6 and last year 2023 it was 75.4. So we can see as the Director [of Education Clare Browne] pointed out the overall performance in 2024 was just about the same.”
This achievement is particularly noteworthy when compared to the regional average. While the Caribbean as a whole achieved a pass rate of 69.05 percent, Antigua and Barbuda’s 74.6 percent pass rate stands out as a significant accomplishment.
Smith also noted that the current figures might be subject to change. He explained, “I must caution as well to this percentage most likely would change number of persons have carried their grades. Also, a number of persons would have received ungraded because of various issues and when those are ironed out, I am sure that the percentage will be affected as well.”
The consistency in performance from 2023 to 2024 demonstrates the stability of Antigua and Barbuda’s education system.
