August 2023 has set a new record as the best August ever regarding visitor arrivals.
Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez broke to the news to antigua.news today Saturday.
The month of August saw unprecedented numbers of visitors arriving by air, cruise, and yacht, solidifying its status as a premier destination for travelers.
The record-breaking numbers reflect the destination’s enduring appeal and popularity among tourists seeking diverse experiences, from the stunning beaches to the vibrant culture and warm hospitality of Antigua and Barbuda.
“The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is thrilled to see such strong visitation numbers in August,” said the Minister of Tourism Charles Fernandez.
“This record-breaking achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our tourism industry partners and the irresistible allure of our twin islands,” he added.
He said the tourism authority remains committed to promoting sustainable tourism and creating memorable experiences for visitors while preserving Antigua and Barbuda’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Here are some statistics for air arrivals: 2019 – 17,668, 2023 – 20,038, 2024 – 24,240. For cruise arrivals: 2019 – 9,617, 2023 – 10,648, 2024 – 10,843. Yachting sector numbers are pending.
Charles Fernandez needs to be knighted. He did a great job as the minster of tourism. Has anyone even made this suggestion?
Concoring the headline. I work in the hospitality industry and at the resort visirors arrival are constance as departure happens so to say its off season for some hotels and resort isn’t a true statement at this time.
