Leader of the United Progressive Party Jamal Pringle says the Gaston Browne administration is Antigua and Barbuda’s biggest threat, and residents shouldn’t be concerned about recent resignations within the UPP

The UPP has seen a string of resignations in recent weeks, including Dr Edmond Mansoor.

Mansoor cited disapproval from the party leadership. But Pringle, in an interview moments ago on Observer’s Connecting with Dave, said people should not concentrate on who is leaving but the newcomers, who will be announced soon.

“There are discussions ongoing at this time with persons interested in representing the party at the constituency level. I am happy to report that we have seen a level of maturity,” he said

Pringle stated that some individuals chose to walk out for personal reasons, not necessarily due to his leadership style.

He emphasized that the UPP stands firm and that he has strong support from within his party, with members believing that he is capable of continuing to lead the party.

“I want to see how I can make the lives of Antiguans and Barbudans better than it was under ABLP, and presently, persons are struggling, and we do not see any form of relief from a government boasting of how much it is collecting…cost of living is still going up. People leaving UPP is not bringing down the cost of living”, he said

Meanwhile, Pringle said he has not seen a resignation from some people who claimed that they were leaving the party

“When you look at the defection, the media can report it before the organization receives it. You realize there is a malicious intent in trying to destabilize the UPP and it will not happen because members are standing firm. We understand what is happening. This is politics”, he added
