Local Businessman Found Guilty of Indecent Assault

23 November 2024 - 06:46

A unanimous jury has convicted Prakashcandra Lohar on two counts of indecent assault, following an incident that occurred during a rainy February in 2022.

The businessman has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison pending sentencing.

Prosecutor Curtis Cornelius presented evidence showing that Lohar, who had offered a ride to the victim during rainfall on February 12, 2022, turned what appeared to be an act of kindness into a criminal assault involving unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate touching.

While the jury reached a unanimous verdict on two counts of indecent assault, they remained divided on a third charge. The first count, alleging that Lohar forced the victim to touch his genitals, resulted in a split 6-2 decision.
