Retired Police Commissioner Alvin Goodwin Has Died

Retired Police Commissioner, Mr. Alvin C. Goodwin CPM, QPM has died.

The former head of the police force passed away on Sunday, December 8, in the United States at the age of 85 years. Mr Goodwin succeeded former Commissioner Edrick K. Potter as the Commissioner of Police from 1995 to 1999. He was formerly head of the Criminal Investigations Department and Deputy Commissioner of Administration within the police force.

He was awarded the Colonial Police Medal-CPM for Meritorious Service in 1977, and later in his career, he received the Queens Police Medal-QPM for Distinguished Service. Mr Goodwin retired in 1999, after serving for over 40 years.

Acting Commissioner Everton Jeffers spoke with his family and expressed condolences on behalf of the police force. Mr Goodwin leaves to mourn his immediate family, colleagues, and friends of the Royal Police Force.
