Dean Jonas Files Lawsuit Against State Agents Following 2023 Arrest

14 December 2024 - 20:28
Former Government Minister Ambassador Dean Jonas has initiated legal proceedings following his arrest on February 23, 2023, at his residence in Scott’s Hill.

In a significant move, he has filed a lawsuit against Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney, Corporal Jason Joseph, and Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin. The arrest, which quickly gained attention on social media, involved Corporal Joseph and other officers.

Ambassador Jonas alleges that the police exhibited a “clear bias” during the arrest, asserting that the actions taken against him were driven by malice and lacked any lawful justification.

He contends that this unjust treatment not only infringed upon his rights but also tarnished his reputation.

Earlier this year, the charges against Jonas, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for St. George, were dismissed.

In light of these circumstances, he is suing for general, aggravated, exemplary, and punitive damages, among other forms of relief. He is being represented in this legal matter by attorney Wendel Alexander, who will advocate for his rights in court.

  1. Dean, Dean, Dean. Maybe you should cut the act already. It’s been so long. Rest yourself that the world forgot all about you and this. And either which way. Filling a lawsuit against the PM right hand man, Steadroy. Ha, good luck with that Jonas.

  2. Dean Jonas needs to take all of them to the cleaners. They came to the man’s home and humiliated him…ruined his character and put the man person business outside. It was unnecessary. Sue them
