Antigua and Barbuda has gained its first Carifta qualifier and that person is Dwanye Fleming.
Fleming, the 2022 Carifta 100m gold medalist kicked off his 2025 indoor season on a high note as his first race of the season saw a standout performance with him registering a personal best time of 48.37 seconds in the 400m at the Wagner College Invitational in Staten Island, New York.
That time was well under our Carifta standard for the U20 boys 400m (48.70) and has made Dwayne, the Monroe College student, the first athlete to qualify for the 2025 Carifta games in Trinidad over the Easter Weekend.
Also, an outstanding performance came from Kettia Ambrose formerly of Princess Margaret School (PMS) who registered an impressive time of 1.17.81sec in the women’s 500m to be crowned the overall winner.
Also competing in the men’s 400m and a first-time indoor runner was Cleon Joseph, the former Clarehall Secondary standout who finished in 5th place overall in a time of 52.39sec.
And we still don’t have proper change room facilities or bathroom’s for our athletes at Yasco. Congrats guys and keep reaching for the skies
