The General Post Office remains closed today as law enforcement conducts a thorough investigation into a brazen break-in that occurred early this morning.

Postmaster Algernon Gomes said the intruder or intruders managed to gain entry by shattering the glass of the main entrance, leaving behind a scene of chaos.

Once inside, they meticulously searched the building’s ground floor, carelessly rummaging through desks and registers, as they sought any items of value.

Their attempts to breach the office’s secure strong room were thwarted, but they didn’t stop there. On the first floor, they smashed through several doors, successfully accessing the accounts room, yet remarkably left without making off with any valuables.

Gomes confirmed that despite the disruption, the post office is expected to reopen its doors to the public on Tuesday morning.

“REMARKABLY LEFT WITHOUT MAKING OFF WITH ANY VALUABLES???” Are they that dense that they have not figured out what the rest of us, sane, intelligent, folks have? THEY WERE THERE FOR SOMETHING SPECIFIC!! That was the ONLY thing of VALUE to them! Who would go to all that trouble to break into the Post Office, rummage through everything, BUT LEAVE WITH NOTHING??🤷 Do they take us for IDIOTS??!!🤦
