Antigua and Barbuda is poised to host the 2025 Diplomatic Encounter Forum, under the theme “Alignment of Diplomatic Outreach with National Priorities,” from March 26 to 28, 2025.
This significant gathering will attract key figures, including Cabinet Members, Heads of Missions, Ambassadors, Diplomatic and Consular Representatives, Honorary Consuls, Ministry officials, and influential speakers from around the globe, aiming to strengthen the nation’s diplomatic efforts and align them with its strategic objectives.
Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim, who serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs, emphasized the Forum’s role in linking diplomatic outreach to the nation’s broader goals.
He noted, “The 2025 Diplomatic Encounter Forum offers a crucial opportunity for us to synchronize our diplomatic approach with our strategic priorities. By fostering collaboration among our Ministry personnel and partners, we aspire to elevate Antigua and Barbuda’s position as a proactive player in international relations.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs, the Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, asserted the Forum’s significance in shaping the foreign policy framework for the country.
He remarked, “For a Small Island Developing State like ours, navigating through vulnerability and resilience is more vital than ever amidst global challenges. The 2025 Forum will be instrumental in realigning our foreign service to prioritize essential areas such as economic development, climate resilience, tourism, and investment.”
Kicking off on March 26, the Forum will feature a Welcome Reception followed by an Opening Ceremony at the Royalton Hotel, where Prime Minister Gaston Browne will deliver the keynote address.
Attendees can look forward to panels discussing critical issues, including the potential for Antigua and Barbuda to host international conferences, the synergies between tourism and the blue economy, the Citizenship by Investment Programme, as well as the intersections of Artificial Intelligence with Sustainable Development and changing geopolitical dynamics.
The event will wrap up with a closing address by Minister Greene, outlining the vital steps needed to further Antigua and Barbuda’s diplomatic initiatives.
