Today, the House of Representatives is set to convene, with an agenda packed with crucial legislative matters awaiting discussion.
One of the highlights of the session will be the “Questions to the Prime Minister” segment, during which the opposition is anticipated to raise several inquiries regarding the recent teachers’ strike.
The strike, which has resulted in six school days of halted classes, has drawn significant attention from both government officials and concerned parents.
In related news, the Cabinet has announced plans to upgrade the Simon Bolivar Pre-School, a longstanding institution within the Sutherlands Community.
With nearly EC$100,000 earmarked for this project, improvements will be made to the school’s buildings, interiors, and furniture, aiming to enhance its appeal to both students and their families.
Notably, the Embassy of Venezuela, which initially provided support for the school, is also set to contribute to this upgrade, reinforcing the collaboration between the two nations in fostering educational development.
As legislators gather, all eyes will be on how they address these pressing issues during today’s session.
Let us hope that it is not simply discussions but that something meaningful, purposeful and fruitful come out of them. Because this government loves to talk but I aint see much happening.
