Man suffers injury after house fire caused by gas explosion (file picture)

A dramatic incident unfolded in All Saints when a house fire erupted after a cooking gas tank was inadvertently activated. The fire ignited when the homeowner’s daughter attempted to use a new gas stove, leading to a loud explosion that set the kitchen ablaze.

In an act of bravery, the homeowner’s brother rushed to help his sister extinguish the flames but unfortunately suffered an electric shock in the process. Emergency services quickly responded, transporting the injured man to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for treatment. Thankfully, he was treated and discharged shortly after.

Local firefighters from the All-Saints Fire Station arrived on the scene in short order. With the help of family members using buckets of water, they successfully doused the flames.

While the fire damaged several louvers, the kitchen wall, and the back of the stove, the quick actions of those involved helped to limit the destruction primarily to the kitchen area.
