Brad Pitt’s home in the Los Feliz neighbourhood of LA has been ransacked (NBC Los Angeles)
Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has become the latest high-profile celebrity to fall victim to a break-in following a spate of the crimes at several other exclusive homes.
Los Angeles police have confirmed that at around 10.30pm on Wednesday 25 June, a home in the Los Feliz neighbourhood was ransacked by three suspects who apparently gained entry through a front window after scaling a high perimeter fence.
They fled with stolen items, though it’s unclear what was taken and although the authorities did not actually clarify that the property belonged to the Oscar-winner, the address matched that of a home that he had purchased in 2023.
It sits just outside Griffith Park – which is the location of the famous Hollywood sign and is surrounded by a large fence and greenery that shields the dwelling from public view.
The award-winning actor and producer, who has a net worth believed to be approaching $400m, was not at the large three-bedroom house at the time of the incident.
It is understood to have a current market value of around $5.5m and has all the latest security installed, so it is concerning that the thieves were able to carry out their raid and make their get-away.
It is not known exactly where he was when it happened, but it was well documented that Pitt accompanied fellow Hollywood star Tom Cruise and Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton to the UK earlier in the week, for the premier of his new film, F1, in London’s Leicester Square.
He was seen very publicly being photographed with the rest of the film’s cast, making it very clear to would-be thieves that he was out of the country.
The movie is released on Friday 27 June, with Hamilton – who has seven World Drivers’ Championship titles – one of the producers.
This burglary follows others reported in the city which have been targeting more celebrities in high-end neighbourhoods, including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban who had their home ransacked too on Valentines Day this year.
A similar incident saw the home of Los Angeles FC and former France international player, Olivier Giroud, have around $500,000 worth of items stolen just a week before. It has not been established if the two incidents are related.
Only last month a man was arrested on stalking and vandalism charges after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into the gates of the property belonging to Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston. Others such as Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Jessie J have also fallen victim to thieves within the past year.
