University of West Indies Five Islands Campus
A troubling incident occurred at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus in Five Islands, where security staff reported a break-in between the evening of July 11 and the early hours of July 13, 2025.
Ricardo Christopher, a security guard stationed at the campus, notified the Grays Farm Police Station about the theft of two microwaves, among other items, from four separate rooms.
According to the report, unknown intruders gained access to the building by removing four panes of louver glass from each of the affected rooms.
Once inside, they ransacked the premises and stole two black microwaves, the value of which is yet to be determined.
Following the report, police responded to the scene.
According to reports, entry was made through the openings created by the removed glass panes, and exit was similarly achieved through the same points.
Efforts to locate the stolen items were unsuccessful, and several individuals in the vicinity were interviewed; however, no useful information was obtained.
The incident raises concerns about security measures on campus and the safety of students and staff.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the break-in to come forward.

Even the university cannot stand safe, I don’t even know if to say they are attacking government establishments one by one
Antigua is going under and we don’t know who’s going to help. The university is under attack and even stealing 2 microwaves? It’s that desperate?
This is just so disheartening to hear. A university campus should be a safe space for learning, and it’s awful that someone would stoop to stealing from it, especially something as basic as microwaves.
Wait…. So where is the security when all this is happening? Inside job?
Breaking and opening a university that is barely surviving is a new low.
