Many traffic collisions have been reported across the region

A series of traffic collisions occurred throughout the island in recent days, prompting police responses and investigations. On July 17th, over four accidents were reported.

The first happened at around 8 a.m at the junction of High and Market Street. A driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving following the accident.

Later that morning, at 10:50 a.m, a collision was reported on Lower Church Street involving two vehicles: a black compact car and a brown SUV. The circumstances suggested that the SUV, which was parked, moved off without ensuring it was safe, subsequently making a U-turn and colliding with the parked compact car.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or significant damage, and both drivers opted for no further police action after coming to an agreement. They were, however, given warnings of intended prosecution.

In another incident, a traffic collision was reported on Buckley Line in the afternoon. Two vehicles were involved: a white compact car and a white SUV. Allegations indicated that the SUV was reversing onto Buckley Line when it collided with the compact car moving along the road. Minor damages were noted, and both drivers were warned of intended prosecution, although no injuries were reported.

Later that evening, around 8 p.m another collision was reported on Jonas Road involving a red compact car and a silver SUV. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the compact car failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the SUV. No injuries were reported, and both drivers received warnings of intended prosecution at the scene.

The final incident occurred shortly after midnight on July 18, 2025, on Market Street. A vehicle was reported to be traveling at high speed when the driver lost control and crashed into a house. The driver appeared intoxicated and sustained severe damages. Emergency services were called, and the driver was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation. Measurements were taken at the scene, and the driver was issued a warning of intended prosecution.

Authorities continue to urge drivers to prioritize safety and remain cautious on the roads.
