Four young women from Antigua and Barbuda have returned home with accolades after representing the nation at the 2025 Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Action Programme (LEAP) in Jersey, Channel Islands.
The delegation, accompanied by Dr. E. Jonah Greene, Deputy Director of Education, showcased innovation, leadership, and creativity on an international stage.
The delegates included Alleah Alfred of St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Gabrielle Tuckett of Antigua Girls’ High School, recent AGHS graduate Janica Adams, and recent ASC graduate Miya Joseph.
Among the highlights of the programme: Miya Joseph’s team won the pitch competition with The Money Mindset, a financial literacy website for children, securing €500 in funding and attracting investor interest.
Alleah Alfred impressed judges with SeaStudy, a marine education game, while Janica Adams gained valuable insights on sustainability and leadership. Gabrielle Tuckett strengthened her confidence and honed her skills in engaging with global audiences.
Minister of Education, Daryll Matthew praised the young women, noting that their participation underscores the value of international collaboration and the growing potential of Antigua and Barbuda’s youth
The LEAP programme offers emerging leaders the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills while fostering global connections, an experience these four delegates have clearly maximized.
