Antigua and Barbuda Post Office Suspends Package Shipments to the U.S.

General Post Office

The General Post Office of Antigua and Barbuda has announced an immediate suspension of all package shipments to the United States, citing new customs regulations introduced by the U.S. government.

The move follows the issuance of Executive Order 14324, which eliminates the duty-free “de minimis” exemption that previously allowed international parcels valued under USD $800 to enter the United States without duty charges.

The new rules, which take effect on August 29, 2025, require more complex customs declarations and tariff structures that have not yet been fully clarified.

Postal officials explained that until there is clearer guidance from U.S. authorities, compliance with the updated requirements cannot be guaranteed.

As a result, Antigua and Barbuda joins several other countries—including the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Spain, India, and other Caribbean nations—in temporarily halting package shipments containing goods bound for the United States.

  4. I didn’t know that our postal service shipped packages to America other than letter envelope, post cards and Christmas cards. I always knew of packages coming in instead of going out.
