With the start of the new school year just a week away, the Cabinet has received an update from the Board of Education on preparations to welcome students.
Final touches are being completed on additional classrooms at Pigotts Primary School and a new classroom block at Clarehall Secondary School.
At the same time, a brand-new preschool facility at Villa Primary School is expected to be ready for the first day of classes.
Renovation work on the bathrooms and auditorium at Princess Margaret Secondary School, as well as repairs at Pares Secondary School, has been finalized, ensuring that students return to fully functional facilities.
At Antigua Grammar School, work on the Home Economics Block will continue over the coming weeks but is not expected to disrupt teaching.
Meanwhile, temporary bathroom facilities at Ottos Comprehensive School and the conversion of a gazebo to create space for foreign language instruction are scheduled for completion before the reopening.
To confirm readiness across all institutions, officials from the Ministry of Education, the Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers, and the Board of Education will conduct a series of school visits next Tuesday.

Why does Ottos Comprehensive School have temporary toilets? Is this an indication that my alma mater needs to be torn down and rebuilt? Maybe that would abolish the deterioration structurally aa well as reputationally.
Shout out to the Ministry of Education and the Board for making sure everything is in place for the students.
Great to see classrooms and facilities being upgraded. Now we need to focus on quality teaching as well.
Happy to read about those developments
