Man Arrested After Theft at Bendals Road Supermarket; Second Suspect Still at Large

Police have taken one man into custody following a reported larceny at the First Best Supermarket on Bendals Road late Saturday night.

According to reports, around 9:30 p.m. on November 8, two men entered the supermarket and allegedly stole a bottle of Hyundai engine oil, a bottle of cooking oil, and a pack of Huggies diapers before fleeing the scene.

Following swift investigations, officers apprehended one of the suspects in the Gray’s Farm area. He was taken into custody at the St. John’s Police Station for questioning.

Law enforcement officials say efforts are ongoing to locate the second suspect believed to be involved in the theft.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913.
