Government Agencies Undergo Intensive CHOGM 2026 Training at Camp Blizzard

The Ministry of Agriculture was among several government agencies that participated in an intensive two-week training exercise aimed at strengthening Antigua and Barbuda’s preparedness for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Participants described the programme as a period of rigorous and highly focused instruction, bringing together representatives from key government ministries, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, and the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP).

The training was facilitated by members of the Canadian Army, marking an early and strategic step in Antigua and Barbuda’s security and operational readiness for Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2026.

Conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sessions were held at Camp Blizzard and focused on coordinated response, inter-agency collaboration, and operational preparedness for hosting a major international summit.

Officials noted that the training reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, well-organised, and successful CHOGM, while also enhancing long-term capacity across national institutions involved in security, logistics, and emergency response.

Further training exercises and preparedness activities are expected as Antigua and Barbuda continues to ramp up preparations ahead of CHOGM 2026.
