Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle and Barbuda MP Trevor Walker will be absent from the first sitting of the House of Representatives following the general election due to personal commitments overseas, according to a statement issued Sunday.
Pringle, Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP) and Member of Parliament for All Saints East and St. Luke, travelled to the United States last week with his minor daughter, who is undergoing a medical procedure. Walker, leader of the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM), is also off-island attending to family matters.
The statement said both men formally notified the Clerk to Parliament of their absence and offered apologies to parliamentary colleagues, supporters and the public for missing Monday’s sitting. They are expected to take their Oath of Allegiance at the next ordinary sitting of the Lower House.
The two political leaders also expressed regret at being unable to attend the investiture ceremony of opposition senator-designate Malaka Parker and extended congratulations and best wishes for her tenure in the Senate.

Sorry to hear about Pringles child. Hope she gets better. I know the haters will look at the situation and say they miss the first sitting because they dint care. Woe to those who believe so
Wishing for speedy recovery of little girl Pringle…Hold strong Brother Jamale
Hoping for the best for your daughter J.P
Praying for the child
What happen. Pringle don’t trust the doctors down here to operate on his daughter? Interesting indeed.
