India Steps Up CHOGM Support With Special Training for Antigua and Barbuda Police

India is continuing to strengthen its support for Antigua and Barbuda as the country prepares to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November, with a new training programme planned for members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.

Through the High Commission of India, 30 police officers will receive specialised protocol and security training aimed at enhancing their readiness for the high-level international gathering.

The initiative follows ongoing consultations involving the High Commissioner of India, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commissioner of Police.

The Special Protocol and Security Training Programme will focus on key areas including protocol procedures, security management and VIP protection.

The training forms part of ongoing capacity-building efforts ahead of CHOGM, which will bring Commonwealth leaders, senior government officials, delegates and other dignitaries to Antigua and Barbuda in November.

Honorary Consul General of India in Antigua and Barbuda, Vijay Tewani, welcomed the initiative, describing it as another demonstration of the enduring friendship and growing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Tewani also expressed appreciation to the governments of India and Antigua and Barbuda for their continued commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

India’s latest contribution adds to preparations underway across Antigua and Barbuda to ensure the country is ready to successfully host one of the Commonwealth’s most significant international gatherings.
