Timothy Jackman killed Angel Joseph in August 2018
The Court of Appeal of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has ordered the immediate release of Timothy Jackman. Jackman, who was convicted in 2020 for the manslaughter of his transgender partner, Angel Joseph, in 2018, successfully appealed his sentence.
He had been serving an original term of 11 years and nine months after Joseph was fatally wounded during a confrontation at their home in Potters on August 29, 2018.
Jackman, represented by attorneys Wendel Alexander and Wayne Benjamin Marsh, was initially freed from Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) on July 3 of the previous year.
However, shortly after his release, the prison authorities claimed that it was a mistake and attempted to rearrest him, asserting that he had been let go two years ahead of schedule.
Jackman was informed that his release date was July 3, 2024, and prior to his release, prison staff even arranged for his brother to bring him new clothes, only to subsequently pursue his reincarceration.
Court documents revealed that Justice Ann-Marie Smith, the judge who sentenced Jackman, had made what his attorney, Alexander, described as a “mathematical error” in calculating his sentence.
Our justice system is in the spotlight again Mr A.G. yet another reflection of your well known incompetence
He should have been left to rot in jail. Once a murderer, always a murderer.
I wanted to be surprised but i cant be…… Antigua is not a place of justice. welcome here everyone
