As of today Tuesday, all registration units for the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) will be open from 4 pm to 6 pm. The extended hours are to facilitate the collection of Voter ID Cards only.
According to a statement from ABEC, only persons who are registered up until November 30 will be eligible to vote in the upcoming elections, with the process for claims and objections for this period coming to an end next Monday, January 9.
Meanwhile, where new registrants are concerned, they are being told that, once their names appear on the Register for Elections, they will be called by their constituency’s Registration Officer to collect their Voter ID Cards in time for the elections.
Persons are asked to walk with some form of national identification at the point of collection.
Eligible residents will go to the polls on January 18th to elect a new government.
