Top Cop travels overseas to discuss security matters.

Antigua and Barbuda will be sending a delegation to Guyana this week, comprising to discuss the 4th Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)

Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney and Colonel Telbert Benjamin, Chief of Defence Staff for the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force.

The purpose of the visit is to participate in discussions regarding the upcoming 4th Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) conference, which is scheduled to be held in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27 to 30.

Additionally, the delegation will also engage in discussions pertaining to the Cricket World Cup.

We will discuss SIDS as we host this event, our preparation for it, and the support we’re looking for from our regional partners.”

In addition to that, we will also be looking at the Cricket World Cup and the issues surrounding that”, he told ABS news.

“Obviously, Antigua and Barbuda, we are joined by a number of other countries within the region as well and we will look as well at how best to collaborate and coordinate our resources within that single free space, through that period of cricket world cup, looking at where we will need to support each other,” the Chief of Defense added.

In June, the much-awaited Cricket World Cup will take place in the beautiful Caribbean. After the tournament, Benjamin is scheduled to travel to the US for important discussions on maritime security with his regional counterparts.

“We are moving in a new direction, a new dispensation reviewing what is required for the next three years, or so. Coming up with a strategic plan that will map the way forward.

During the meeting, the speaker emphasized the significance of the event not only for Antigua and Barbuda but also for the wider Caribbean region.

The primary aim of the meeting is to address the pressing issues related to regional maritime security.

The participating members will also discuss and devise a strategic plan for the region, considering all the challenges and opportunities.

The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for the concerned parties to collaborate and take necessary steps towards ensuring a safe and secure maritime environment in the region.
