Prime Minister Gaston Browne has sent sympathy messages to the government and people of Guyana following a devastating fire that killed 19 girls.

Nineteen children were confirmed dead after a dorm at the Mahdia Secondary School was ravaged by fire late on Sunday night.

Several others had to be air-lifted to Georgetown for emergency treatment.

“Our prayers are with you, as we continue to stand in solidarity with all the families, citizens, and residents of Guyana. Soldier on,” Prime Minister Browne wrote

Foreign Affairs Minister E.P Chet Greene also express condolences to the government and people of Guyana, saying “it was a very unfortunate development”
