Syrian community to hold memorial service for Roudi tonight

The Syrian community in Antigua and Barbuda will pay their respects to Roudi Shmlay at the Orthodox Church tonight

The memorial service will be attended by Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin and government ministers Charles Fernandez and Daryll Mathew

Residents and those who knew Roudi are being invited to the service on the grounds of the Antigua Syrian Club at Langfords

It is carded for 8 o’clock tonight.

Roudi was killed from a gunshot wound to his head when a young man robbed the Pick ‘N Mix Mart on DeSouza Road where he worked

The incident happened shortly after 1 pm. The gunman fled the scene with an undetermined sum of money from the cashier in the mart. 

He came to Antigua from Syria during the Covid-19 pandemic and was working towards his wedding. His fiancé lives in Syria.
