A man who spent the last three months behind bars for lying to the court, changed his plea today, admitting to stealing two drinks from a popular supermarket.

Teshawn Gordon was caught on camera on March 13 taking up two bottles of Mandingo Tonic Wine worth $5.50 each from a shelf at the Perry Bay Supermarket.

He was observed leaving the building without paying and was held by security who then contacted the police.

Almost three months ago when the man was brought before the court for larceny of the two items, he pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate remanded him for lying to the court since he was caught on camera.

As a result, the trial was set to start today in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court but the man decided to admit to the crime.

But since he was behind bars since March, he was released today having served enough time.
