Police are now searching for the male driver of a white Toyota Corolla who abandoned his vehicle in the middle of Cross Street earlier today.

Officers had been pursuing the vehicle which was earlier driving in the wrong direction on Nevis Street.

The driver initially failed to heed the Officers’ request to stop but later left the vehicle abandoned with a female passenger inside.

Initial reports indicate the authorities had been tipped off the man had earlier committed a robbery initiating the city chase.

Verified video footage shows the man was seen running from the vehicle with a handbag while authorities led the passenger away for questioning.
