Just days after getting a slap on his wrist for stealing two packs of chewing gum, one man returned to court today for stealing again but was not so lucky.
Johnsons Village resident Jermain Julian was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment alongside Clare Hall man Voneal Valentine for stealing a water pump and a pressure tank worth $3000.
The pump was stolen from someone’s home in Sutherlands on June 22.
The owner noticed that the door to a room where the pump was being stored was pried open with a hard object and the item was no longer there.
He reported the matter to the police who reviewed the CCTV camera footage.
A few days later the police then went in search of the men who they subsequently apprehended and charged with larceny.
The two defendants admitted to the crime this morning and were immediately sentenced to spend the same amount of time in His Majesty’s Prison.

Hard times equal more crimes. At least in prison they get “three hots and a cot”. But seriously… It is my opnion that the high cost of living, along with high rates of unemployment, is the impetus for most of these crimes. At least in prison, there is shelter and food. And I am not condoning crimes nor criminals…I just understand the rational behind the behavior.
