First Group of Africans to Arrive for Carnival under New Air Peace Agreement

29 June 2023 - 07:01

A group of cultural artists from Nigeria are expected to arrive in Antigua and Barbuda during the Carnival celebrations.

The group according to the government will share Nigeria’s “rich cultural tapestry” with locals during the celebrations.

The latest arrangement is in keeping with the government’s determination to continuously pursue efforts to establish an air bridge with West Africa

The team is expected to stay at one of Antigua’s luxury hotels and be returned to their homeland by Air Peace at the end of the Carnival festivities.

The Nigerians will arrive as part of an arrangement with Air Peace; the largest Nigerian air carrier

The airline is expected to invest in LIAT 2020 Ltd.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been vigorously pursuing shareholders of former LIAT 1974 Ltd to invest in a new entity but that has not been successful.

Browne had said that another investor is required and Air Peace has indicated its capabilities.

That carrier will seek to establish regular flights between West Africa and Antigua, utilizing LIAT for dispersing its transit passengers to other Caribbean Countries, and building up the capabilities of LIAT to fly outside of the region.

  5. This wayward and reckless government with all their capacity and experience does not learn from its numerous stupid ventures and nonsensical mistakes? Will this be another group of wealthy investors, high-end/low-end tourists or economic opportunists???
Are they masking something else and throwing a RED herring across the trail?

    • Just another scheme to line pockets. Something will be laundered and then the venture will be canceled.
