Asot Michael

Asot Michael, the Member of Parliament for St. Peter, told a court this morning that he is not guilty of the battery allegation being brought against him.

Michael is before the All Saints Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting a female police officer during a fete last summer.

According to the officer, in the early hours of August 5, she observed the apparently intoxicated Michael, approach her behind and grab her cheeks without her consent.

When she pushed him away, he allegedly grabbed onto her uniform, causing some buttons to be undone.

After a few adjournments, Michael, represented by Hugh Marshall, finally entered a plea of not guilty this morning.

His trial will begin on July 17.
