Many of the country’s youth involved in gangs dropped out of school due to fear of becoming targets of gang violence.
While this isn’t true for every gang-involved youth, Prime Minister Gaston Browne stated that some young men have shared with him that fear of violence was their reason for leaving school.
He mentioned that gangs from different communities have been in conflict for years, leading to many young people becoming victims of serious crimes.
