A 20-year-old  man has been remanded to prison following his appearance in court on charges of armed robbery and larceny.

Ajahni Murray, a resident of King Obstinate’s Drive, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason yesterday in connection with two separate incidents.

The first charge stems from an alleged armed robbery at the Stop and Shop supermarket in Nut Grove on April 25, 2024.

Murray is accused of stealing $500 from the supermarket owners while armed with a firearm.

In a separate incident on July 7, Murray allegedly committed larceny on Christian Street in Grays Farm.

The charges include the theft of $2,000 in cash, a 9mm pistol with sixteen rounds of ammunition, jewelry, clothing, shoes, and a mobile phone. The victim in this case was identified as a local businessman.

During his court appearance, Magistrate Wason ordered Murray to be held in custody pending his committal hearing, which is scheduled for November 28.

This hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial in the High Court.
