Two Liberta Men Remanded on Weapons, Ammunition Charges

Two Liberta residents have been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison after appearing in court on multiple weapons and ammunition charges.

Shiloh Martin, 22, and Wayne Knowles, 25, appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on charges related to the possession of four ballistic vests, ammunition, and illegal firearms allegedly found on October 16.

The men are accused of having unlawful possession of ten .40mm rounds of ammunition, ten 9mm rounds, two 9mm magazines, a Taurus .40 pistol, and a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol.

The duo appeared in court on Monday where defence attorney Damian Benjamin raised concerns about the investigation, questioning the location where the items were discovered.

Benjamin claimed the items were dug up by police in an area away from the farm where his clients reside.

Magistrate Emanuel ordered disclosure but advised that bail applications would need to be made in the High Court.

Both men were remanded to custody. They are scheduled to return to court on January 22, 2025.
