Senator Govia Ready to serve in new role

Long standing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party Senator Shenella Govia is looking forward to assume her new role as Leader of Government Business in the Upper House.

She is to be sworn-in on Friday as Lead of Government Business and Junior Minister with responsibility for Education, Sport and Creative Industries.

Govia takes the role of Leader of Government Business in the Senate over from Senator Samantha Marshall who resigned from the post recently.

“I am just truly honored to be elevated to the position and I am thankful to Prime Minister the Hon Gaston Browne for having that confidence in me and I am looking forward to serving,” Govia said Monday.

She spoke with state TV while attending the Swear-in ceremony for now Senator and Junior Minister within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment Michael Joseph.
