St. John’s, Antigua, March 5, 2025. CIBC Caribbean Music for the cure left the audience stunned and wanting more. Sunday March 2nd 2025, saw an awesome display of talent from Antiguan Youth, given a platform to display their talents on stage. The concert began with powerful affirmation by 11– year old co-host Genesis Williams & welcome by co-host Joy-Marie Joseph, a cancer survivor and one of the younger employees on Staff at CIBC Antigua.
The talent on the day included amazing performances from ABYSO Orchestra, Julia George on violin, 8-year-old Eldana Room on piano, the winner form Island Academy Got Talent Mr. Allijah Richards, Antigua Creative Dancers, Spring Gardens Moravian pan orchestra, Urlings Primary School Choir, winners of the Zone 1 Christmas Carol competition, Potters Primary Schooldancers, Glanvilles Secondary and Freemansville Primary School ensembles.
Some of the biggest highlights of the afternoon were the angelic voices of Alleah Alfred and Janelyn Michael, who left persons in tears of joy. When Enoch, Thomas, 11 years old of Urlings Primary School took to the stage, the crowd could not contain their emotions. There were loud cheers and standing ovations.
Mrs. Eunetta Bird from Breast Friends, who attended the event, praised the Team for an exceptional production.
CIBC Caribbean would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to Claudine Benjamin, Managing Director of ABSYO, Mrs. Caryl Edwards-Lewis (Education Officer Performing Arts, Ministry of Education) Jacquline Batchelor and her music group from Urlings Primary School, Potters Primary School dancers, Mr. George and his music class from Glanville Secondary and Ms. Baptiste and her music class from Freemans Viilage Primary School, Ms. Peetes and the Antigua Creative Dancers and all the performers.
Music for the Cure, was the first of a number of events that will culminate with the annual Walk for the Cure on 11th October. The next event on the calendar is Hike for Cure, Saturday May 3rd. All proceeds from Walk for the Cure fundraising activities will be donated to Breast Friends and the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre’s Oncology Department. Last year’s Walk for the Cure raised one hundred and five thousand dollars.
