The Cabinet has welcomed three officials from the University of The West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus development team to discuss the ongoing expansion project.

The team is currently overseeing the construction of a new primary school, an initiative aimed at enhancing educational facilities in the region.

During the meeting, officials shared significant findings from geo-technical studies conducted at the site designated for the new Five Islands Primary School. These studies uncovered unexpected soil formations, leading to a necessary review of the foundation drawings to ensure the safety and stability of the structures.

The development team emphasized the importance of this review in light of the findings, stating that adjustments are crucial to ensure that the buildings meet all safety standards.

The process is expected to be completed shortly, allowing the project to move forward as planned.
