Devon Byam is faced consequences yesterday after confessing to larceny of a Kipling knapsack from the Baptist Academy of Antigua.
On March 7, at approximately 3:30 pm, Byam entered school grounds while students were participating in soccer activities on the playing field. He took an unattended school bag belonging to one of the students.
Upon returning from the field, the student discovered her bag missing. The bag contained economics and mathematics textbooks, with the total value of stolen items amounting to $1,715.
After being alerted by the student, school officials reviewed security camera footage which identified Byam as the perpetrator.
When apprehended, some of the stolen items were recovered alongside Byam. He stated that he was frustrated about not receiving payment and had “left the stuff at the side of the road,” though he had kept a bottle of perfume.
Byam was sentenced to pay $1,000 in compensation to the complainant and received time served for the period he spent on remand.
Where is he going to get the money from? Is the question I ask
Imagine that. Just walk off the road and onto the school compound. Is there any safe space left around here
They should also give him 3 months in prison
So you steal from a kid??? Ridiculous!
