NOMINEES FOR 2024 NATIONAL SPORTS AWARDS

The Antigua & Barbuda National Sports Awards, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Creative Industries, which was scheduled for today, Saturday, 15th March 2025, at 6:00 PM, has been postponed to Saturday, 22nd March 2025 after consultation with the Sporting Associations.

We join the nation in mourning the painful loss of 9-year-old Chantel Crump.

Minister Hon. Daryll S. Matthew, Minister of Education, Sport and Creative Industries and a father, expressed his deep sorrow:

“This is a dark day in Antigua and Barbuda. No child should ever endure such an unspeakable act of savagery, having their light of innocence stolen from them. I said it yesterday and will continue to say: Let us all be our brother’s keeper, look out for one another, and ensure our children feel safe in their communities. Today is not business as usual. Today, we have been thrust into a National Day of Prayer and Mourning, coming together with families and communities to support and hold each other.”

To Chantel’s parents, siblings, family, and friends, we extend our deepest condolences as you navigate this tragic and devastating loss.
