Long-Overdue Bathroom Upgrades Begin at YASCO Sports Complex ( Photo by Maria Browne)
After years of public complaints and stalled efforts, construction has officially begun on the long-overdue bathroom facilities at the YASCO Sports Complex. This reflects a renewed focus on improving public infrastructure and supporting the needs of our athletes, students, and the wider public who use the national sports venue.
The project, which has remained incomplete for several years, is now being executed by the Ministry of Housing and Works via the National Housing & Urban Renewal Development Company (NHURDC).

For years, the lack of functional restroom amenities at YASCO has drawn criticism, particularly given the high volume of events hosted at the facility, including school sports, national track meets, and training sessions. The absence of adequate sanitary infrastructure has impacted comfort, hygiene, and dignity for all users of the space.
The improvement forms part of a broader push to modernize and enhance public spaces across Antigua and Barbuda, particularly those used for youth and community development.

Hmmm. Let’s hope for nothing but the best of this project
That’s the way to go Maria! Recognizing the issues and taking care of them. Let’s build a long standing Antigua
bathrooms, finally , they are actually building them..wow..the sun has risen when they are finished the former people in charged should be fired
FINALLLLYYYYYYY
Great work Antigua and Barbuda government. A working body for the people
I’ve watched athletes warm up and train for national meets without access to a clean bathroom. This upgrade is essential, not a luxury.
