UPP to Stage Motorcade Against “Vehicle-Gate” on Sunday

The opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) is set to stage a major motorcade on Sunday, November 9, 2025, as part of its ongoing campaign demanding a full and independent investigation into what it calls “the scandals at Public Works.”

The event, themed “Against Vehicle-Gate,” will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the Rising Sun Grounds in St. John’s. It follows the UPP’s earlier protest held on Tuesday outside the Ministry of Works on St. John’s Street, where supporters called for transparency and accountability in the management and acquisition of government vehicles.

Party officials have maintained that only an independent inquiry can uncover the truth behind the controversy, which has sparked heated political debate and drawn public scrutiny.

The UPP said the weekend motorcade is intended to “keep the pressure on” and to show that citizens are united in their demand for integrity in public office.

The opposition party has urged supporters and concerned residents to participate peacefully, noting that the demonstration is part of its broader campaign for good governance and accountability in Antigua and Barbuda.
