Loan agreement for UWI Five Islands is set for signing on January 17.

On Tuesday, 17th January, the Five Islands Campus of the University of the West Indies, the Government of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the University of the West Indies will sign an agreement for the Expansion of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus with the Saudi Fund for Development.

After several months of negotiations, the government announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia agreed on the US$80M loan to expand the university

Prime Minister Browne said the UWI Five Islands Campus is the “crown jewel” of the country’s education system and the aim is to make the twin island state a center for higher and technical-vocational education in the Eastern Caribbean.

      Amazing but 80M USD. Who is to manage its repayment? What are the terms? What are the consequence of default? They are no way interested in the land as collateral so what are they getting in return?
