***EXCLUSIVE ON ANTIGUA.NEWS***

A 14-year-old girl, who had been reported missing by her guardians several months ago, was recently found in the custody of an adult male.

According to reliable sources, after she was located, CID personnel questioned her and then handed her over to the Youth Intervention Unit.

It was later found out that the teenage girl was in her second trimester of pregnancy, forcing the Youth Intervention Unit to reach out to the social counselor in the Ministry of Education for assistance.

Because she is underaged and pregnant, the young girl was handed over to the police and has been held at the St John’s Police Station for three weeks now.

Up until last night, she was still there, receiving minimal care for her condition.

The young girl had to rely on the generosity of police officers for her daily sustenance, a far cry from the provisions needed for a pregnant woman. Generous Police officers would bring her food on occasion.

Reports are that the teen’s mother traveled to Jamaica, and she was in the custody of her grandmother when she ran away from home.

If it was someone in high status daughter, she would never had seen inside a police station cell lockup in her pregnancy condition.
I guess the police had consulted with a doctor before holding her in that deplorable condition for three days. Those cells at the police are not fit for human.

Why lock her up instead of the overage man.

I’m trying to understand that although she was sent to the youth intervention unit, they handed her over to the police. You may as well close down the youth unit if this is what they do with young, at risk, people. While she may be safe, the police station is not the place for her to be housed.

How on earth could the system be so skewed that it becomes the responsibility of police to look after a pregnant underage girl?

The only angle the police should have in this story is her running away from home, charging the adult male she was with for harboring a minor and possibly charges related to the pregnancy

Couldn’t she be sent to girls home or somewhere similar in the interim?

  4. Think it over 🤔

Why we humans like to dictate others life?
Yes she’s under age and the male adult should know better. But she kept running to him because she feels safe there, because sometimes family isn’t easy and some mothers are not worth to be mothers they leaves these young ladies to be their own women.
Secondly, locking up the adult for the pregnancy; what good is it going to do for this young lady and her baby? People hardly help these days. ….sometimes we need to think before acting and talking!
Find another way to punish these male adults, than putting them in prison(if its a rape situationi understand the ful lextent of the law to be served!!) and another man has to take up thses young ladies with a child cause mental challenges to both parties.

So an adult male gets an underage girl pregnant and he should not be punished because he’s going to be a Father? He broke the Law since he had her in his home hidden-and broke the law when he had sex with her..He should be punished to the extent the law affords.Men like these are predators.

this type of thing happens to often in the island grown man should know better, she’s a little girl acting like a grown woman ,where’s the stop signs, go home little and go to school
and get that education, babies having babies
with no family ,no money, no father to protect their kids from predators, the government is to be trusted to protect the children of the country no matter who the predator is.
