Vice President of the Senate, Senator Osbert Frederick has thanked his parliamentary colleagues for their support over the years as he prepares to transition into another area of public.

Frederick will be assuming the role of Speaker of the House of Representative replacing Kings Counsel Sir Gerald Watt who will departing the post at the end of this current parliamentary cycle.

“I came into this honourable house in 2014 and it has been an experience that I would not change for anything. Thank you all for the support,” Frederick told the Upper House on Monday.

He also singled out President of the Senate, Senator Alincia Williams Grant for her leadership and mentorship and guidance.

“So, the path of right. Madame President you have done so much to expand my horizon, you have given me opportunities that I never thought would have been possible. It has helped me to be a better debater and a better person in general,” Frederick said.

Grant said she will be organising tables.

Frederick’s Senate position will be filled by ABLP caretaker for St John’s Rural West, Micheal Joseph.

Sir Gerald Watt, who has served as Speaker since June 25, 2014, will be remembered for his significant contributions to the Assembly.
