Five to compete in ABLP primary election for the SJRW constituency

6 November 2023 - 07:32

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party has announced that a primary election will take place on December 8 to select a candidate/caretaker for the St. John’s Rural West constituency.

The party has received five submissions from Shawn Benjamin, Russhell Ellis, Michael Joseph, Aziza Lake, and Kevin Morgan expressing their interest in the position.

The Central Executive of the party will determine the suitability of all prospective candidates and will approve the candidate or a list of candidates to contest in the primary election at the constituency level.

The primary election will be open to registered party members of the constituency who are in good financial standing for at least twelve consecutive weeks prior. The party member shall exercise one vote.

The primary election will be held at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Centre, and the party’s internal Supervisor of Elections will give at least twenty-eight days’ notice before the poll. Further details are expected to be announced shortly.
